Patient 's Rights & Responsibilities  

Patient 's / Attendant Rights
  • The right to have privacy dignity and religious & cultural belief respected.
  • The patient / family right to have protection from/against physical abuse or neglect.
  • The right to have information related to your medical condition kept confidential.
  • The right to accept or refuse any medication, investigation or treatment, and to be informed of the likely consequences of doing so.
  • The patient has right to reasonably informed participation in decisions involving his/her health care. The patient shall not be subjected to any procedure without his/her informed consent.
  • The right to receive medical advice and treatment which fully meets the currently accepted standards of care and quality and know the same.
  • The right to make complaints/suggestions.
  • The right to have information on expected cost of the treatment.
  • The right to access to his/her clinical records.
  • The right to be given a clear description of your medical condition and plan of care.
  • High standard of care consistent with their requirements and availability of resources to meet them.
  • Be treated with respect and dignity regardless of their beliefs, race, religion and nationality.
  • Confidentially of their medical records except for those required by law.
  • Follow their beliefs.
  • Informed consent before administration of anesthesia, blood/blood products or any other invasive/high-risk treatment/HIV test.
  • Right to obtain a copy of medical test records
  • Informed consent before enrollment to a research protocol.
  • Refuse treatment and get a discharge (patient refusing treatment and get a discharge against medical advice are responsible for their own actions).
  • Be informed and decide to be put on respirator and /or given resuscitation.
  • Know about the treatment proposed, the risks and benefits, and the approximate cost.
  • Know about the change in patient’s clinical condition.
  • Be informed of financial implication with the change of the category of service.
  • Complain about any deficiency of service to the hospital administrator or the attending team. (Complaints can also be dropped in to “FeedBack Boxes” and are dealt promptly).
  • Ask questions from treating physician and nursing staff regarding management, if not understood.

    Patient 's / Attendant Responsibilities
  • Provide correct and complete demographic information including name, age, sex, address and telephone number.
  • Provide details of present and past illness, family history where relevant, all records of previous investigations and treatment and of allergic reactions especially sensitivity to any drug.
  • Cooperate with the staff of the hospital in receiving prescribed treatment.
  • Treat the hospital staff, other patient and visitors with courtesy and respect.
  • Abide by the hospital rules and regulations with regard to restrictions on number and category of visitors, visiting hours, smoking, and consumption of tobacco and alcohol and making noise.
  • Maintain hygiene and cleanliness.
  • Keep appointments given by the consultants or others.
  • Avoid bringing valuables to the hospital.
  • Inform the hospital about the health insurance or coverage by the employers.
  • Any other information which may have bearing on the treatment/health of the patient.
  • Be an informed patient and take keen and proactive interest in your treatment.
  • Inform the authorities of any misconduct/misdemeanor or unacceptable situation.
  • Give us as much information as you can about your present health, past illness allergies and any other relevant details.
  • Follow the prescribed and agreed treatment plan and comply with the instruction given.
  • Show consideration for rights of other patients and hospital by following the hospital rules concerning patient conduct.
  • Keep appointments that you make, or else notify the hospital as early as possible if you are unable to do so.
  • Do not ask us to provide incorrect information or certification.
  • Do not litter the hospital.
  • Please garbage bins.
  • Keep toilet clean after use.
  • Do not smoke or spill inside the hospital premises.
  • Support the hospital in keeping environment clean.
  • Wait patiently for your turn.
  • Maintains silence.
  • Do not bring children below 10 years as visitors
